 HISTORICAL CITY TOUR ON MOTORBIKE

Saigon as the city is still frequently referred to be Vietnam’s largest city. Saigon’s history is only 300 years old. In 1859 the city was captured by the French and became the capital of Indochina. From 1956 until its dramatic demise in April 1975 it was the capital of the US-backed Republic of Vietnam. This half day city tour unravels Saigon’s turbulent past and also provides a glimpse into the fascinating variety the city has to offer.

Highlight:

• Notre-Dame Cathedral, Notre Dame Cathedral Vietnam is honored as one of the world’s 19 most majestic cathedrals, the only representative from Southeast Asia. This long-lasting masterpiece, seen as the architectural symbol of Ho Chi Minh.
• The Center Post Office, built between 1886 and 1891, is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture mixing with Eastern decoration style. There are two painted maps that were created just after the Post Office was built, one map is titled “Telegraphic lines of Southern Việt Nam and Cambodia 1892” and the other is titled “Sài Gòn and its surroundings 1892”.
• The Independence Palace, (*)was rebuilt after an unsuccessful coup by bombing in 1962 destroyed most of old building, which had been built by the French colonial government in 1871
• The War Remnants Museum (*),a must-see attraction for most visitors, was founded on September 4, 1975. It was first named “Exhibition House for U.S. and Puppet Crimes”. In 1990, the name was changed to “Exhibition House for Crimes of War and Aggression”. In 1995, a week before an announcement by the U.S. President, Bill Clinton, for the normalization of diplomatic relations, the name was changed to War Remnants Museum, as we all know it now..
• A Secret Weapon Cellar, dating back to 1967, a hidden cellar was secretly dug below the home of Tran Van Lai, a Saigon dweller, in district 3. He was a secret agent of Viet Cong, who tended to use the cellar to pile up an arsenal and explosives resulting in the deadly Tet Offensive. The surprise attack was operated on a large scale and aimed to the US and Southern Vietnam forces.
• A sight-seeing route around the downtown to see The Opera House, City Hall and Nguyen Hue Boulevard.

From 5 – 11 years old: Pay 75%

Under 5 years old: Free of charge. However, only one under-five free admission per booking. If you have more than two under- five, from the second kid pays 50% each.

From 15-20 days before departure: Guests pay 50%

Within 14 days before departure: Guests pay 100%

• Please note that timing and itinerary are subject to change without notice. However, we will do everything we reasonably can to make sure everything goes according to plan.
• The Independence Palacemight close without prior notice for some special reasons, like welcoming heads of states, organizing important meetings of the city government… In this case, we will just make a stop in front of the building for taking photos or offering some information from our guide. After that, we will visit another attraction as compensation; it could be Việt Nam History Museum, City Art Museum, Hồ Chí Minh City Museum… or some other ones that we can possibly suggest for you.
• War Remnants Museum: In order to respect visitors’ privacy and feeling, your guide doesn’t accompany you into the museum. However, we are pleased to give you guided information for visiting and to discuss further details afterwards.
• Notre-Dame Cathedral is been under renovation, we will just make a stop in front of the building for taking photos or offering some information from our guide.
